Auction Bridge & IB

Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) are variations of the classic Bridge card game.

Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) represent the third evolutionary stage of the general bridge game, developing from straight bridge (also known as bridge whist). As the predecessor to contract bridge, these games trace their lineage back to whist and bridge whist.

Auction Bridge & IB feature significantly different scoring systems for tricks, bonuses, and penalties compared to contract bridge, and they don't include the concept of vulnerability.

Trump selection rules are nearly identical, though contract bridge introduces more complexity in this area. The gameplay and rules also share similarities with contract bridge.

The dealer initiates the first trump selection and must declare the intention to win at least the odd trick in a trump suit or at No-trumps. Bidding prioritizes higher point values rather than simply more tricks. For example, 3 Spades (27 points) outranks 4 Clubs (24 points).

Each trick beyond six scores:

Notrumps: 10 points

Spades: 9 points

Hearts: 8 points

Diamonds: 7 points

Clubs: 6 points

Game requires 30 points
