The objective of Durak is to discard your cards as swiftly as possible. The first player to do so emerges as the winner, leaving the last player with cards as the "fool" (durak).

In "Fool Flip" (Durak Podkidnoy), the classic version, if the attacker cannot play a card against the defender, the player to the defender's left takes over. Only one card can be played at a time, and once it's beaten, the turn returns to the original attacker. If the left player also has no suitable card, the turn moves clockwise. This continuous passing of play gives rise to the name "Flip Fool" or "Durak Classic."

"Fool Transferable" (Durak Perevodnoy) adds an exciting twist by allowing the defender, from the second move onward, to "transfer" a card played against them by placing a card of the same rank but different suit on the table. This shifts the attack to the next player clockwise, who can also transfer the card further. Hence the name "Fool Transferable."
