Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if fans could resist seeing Alicia Silverstone don the iconic yellow and plaid once more. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an eagerly awaited Clueless sequel series, which is now in development at Peacock.

While plot details are being closely guarded, we do know that Silverstone will be back as the fashion-forward high schooler, and the series will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film. This project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020, marking a fresh take on the beloved franchise.

The creative team behind the new series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl and its reboot, alongside Jordan Weiss. Together, they will write and executive produce the series, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to produce.

This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for television. Following the film's success, a TV version ran on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard taking on the role of Cher.

Silverstone's recent return to the character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her enthusiasm for stepping back into Cher's world. Fans are undoubtedly thrilled to see her embrace the role once again.
