Bring Large Dung Pods
Hirabami is no pushover. Unlike most monsters, it often travels in packs, making the fight even more challenging. To split the group and tackle them one by one, bring Large Dung Pods. These handy items will scatter the monsters, giving you a better chance to focus on each Hirabami individually.
Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo
Hirabami loves to stay airborne, making ranged attacks ideal. If you're armed with a Bow or similar weapon, you’ll find it easier to target their heads. For melee users, Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo is your best bet. Alternatively, severing the monster’s tail will yield a Tail Claw Shard, which can transform into the desired ammo.
Utilize Environmental Traps
The arena is equipped with environmental hazards like Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping these on Hirabami’s head can stun and damage the beast. Keep an eye out for opportunities to exploit these traps effectively.
Aim for the Head
The head is always the priority when hunting Hirabami. However, staying airborne makes this difficult. Ranged weapon users will excel here, while melee players should focus on the neck when the monster descends. Avoid attacking the torso, as its defenses are incredibly high.
Watch the Tail
Hirabami’s erratic movements require constant vigilance. It often lunges forward, spits projectiles, or dives from above. Stay mobile and watch its head to anticipate these attacks. However, don’t overlook its tail—it serves as a powerful weapon, capable of smashing you with brute force.
How to Capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture Hirabami, reduce its health to 20% or below. A skull icon will appear on the mini-map when this threshold is met. Immediately set up a Pitfall Trap or Shock Trap to immobilize the creature. Once captured, swiftly administer a Tranquilizer to knock it out. Failure to act quickly will result in the monster escaping.
Capturing Hirabami ends the fight instantly, granting standard rewards. However, this method limits your chances of obtaining rare materials from weak spots.
That’s everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Equip yourself with Large Dung Pods or call for backup using the SOS system to make the battle smoother.
