Cosmo Jarvis to Return for Shogun Season 2, Set 10 Years After Season 1
The acclaimed series *Shōgun*, a proud recipient of 18 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes, is set to captivate audiences once again with its highly anticipated second season. Cosmo Jarvis, who brilliantly portrayed pilot John Blackthorn, has confirmed his return for Season 2 and will also take on the role of co-executive producer, as per an official FX press release.
Lead actor Hiroyuki Sanada, who committed to Season 2 last May following the show's renewal from its initial limited series format, has been elevated to executive producer after contributing to the first season's production. The series is scheduled to commence filming for Season 2 in Vancouver, the original filming location, starting January 2026.
FX has described the upcoming second season of *Shōgun* as “a wholly original new chapter to the first season,” which was adapted from James Clavell’s renowned novel. The network provided insights into the narrative connection between the two seasons, stating:
“In the first season, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.
"Part two of *Shōgun* is set 10 years after the events of the first season and continues the historically-inspired saga of these two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined.”
With any luck, fans can look forward to enjoying new episodes of this stellar series by the end of 2026. Until then, we eagerly await and hope for the best.
