MK1 Datamine Reveals Potential Quitality Animations

A data miner for Mortal Kombat 1 has discovered what appears to be strong evidence that the brutal fighter will introduce Hara-Kiri Fatalities, likely in the form of Quitalities.

Reddit user InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what look like Hara-Kiri Fatalities within Mortal Kombat 1. This type of finisher, first seen in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception, allows the losing player to perform a self-inflicted Fatality.

Notably, InfiniteNightZ found Hara-Kiri animations for recently added DLC fighters like Ghostface. This suggests the feature is being prepared for a future update rather than being scrapped. "Seeing it added for the current DLC roster makes it highly likely," InfiniteNightZ commented.

They further speculated these animations are set to become Quitalities, which is how they are named in the game's code. Quitalities are instant finishers triggered when a player quits an online match, a mechanic from earlier series entries. "They are listed as Quitalities, so there's still hope," they added.

Following this discovery, prominent Mortal Kombat 1 data miner Interloko uncovered additional Hara-Kiri animations.

Of course, this may not lead to an official feature. It's important to note that neither developer NetherRealm Studios nor publisher Warner Bros. Games has announced Quitalities for Mortal Kombat 1.

The game recently saw a surge in activity with a secret fight against the pink ninja, Floyd, and community efforts to unlock him. Players also have the T-1000 guest character to anticipate, with the potential for more DLC, though NetherRealm has not confirmed further plans.
