Dune: Awakening Release Postponed Three Weeks for Beta-Inspired Updates

Author : Leo May 22,2025

The highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, *Dune: Awakening*, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi series and Denis Villeneuve's cinematic adaptations, has had its release date pushed back to June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, shared this update and confirmed that eager fans can get early access on June 5 by purchasing the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition.

The delay, Funcom explains, stems from feedback gathered during the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. This additional time will allow the development team to refine the game further and implement requested changes. Moreover, the delay paves the way for a large-scale beta weekend next month, providing more players with the chance to experience *Dune: Awakening* and offer their insights.

While the delay might disappoint some fans eager to dive into the world of Arrakis, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a deeper look at what players can expect.

IGN's enthusiasm for *Dune: Awakening* remains high, as noted in our hands-on preview: "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
