First-Ever Mobile Game Based on Made in Abyss Universe Announced

Avex Pictures has officially unveiled a brand-new mobile game adaptation of Made in Abyss. Having already immersed fans deep within the depths through manga, anime series, and a 3D action RPG, this beloved franchise is now making its debut on smartphones.

The Latest Update

Titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, the upcoming mobile title was announced simultaneously with the launch of the official X account. This channel will likely serve as the primary hub for news updates leading up to the game's release.

Currently, details remain scarce regarding specific gameplay mechanics, though it is confirmed to be a casual mobile experience. The game will support both Android and iOS platforms but will initially launch exclusively in Japan, with no announced plans for an international rollout just yet.

Journey into the Abyss

The Made in Abyss saga began in 2012 as a web manga by Akihito Tsukushi, published on Web Comic Gamma. The narrative centers on Riko, an orphan residing in the border town of Orth, which encircles a colossal vertical chasm known simply as the Abyss.

This enigmatic pit is filled with ancient artifacts, bizarre creatures, and deep-seated mysteries that claim those who venture too far. Driven by dreams of her mother Lyza—a legendary White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished within the depths—Riko sets out to follow in her footsteps.

Riko soon encounters Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with no recollection of his past. Together, they embark on their descent into the Abyss, fully aware that returning may never happen.

The manga was successfully adapted into an anime series in 2017. It was followed by the theatrical film Dawn of the Deep Soul, which premiered in Japan in 2020. Additionally, Chime Corporation released a console and PC RPG titled Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness in 2022.
