Monster Hunter Wilds Hits 10M Sales, Capcom Explains Success

Author : Christopher Mar 05,2026

Monster Hunter Wilds continues to demonstrate phenomenal success, showing no signs of slowing down. It has now exceeded the 10 million copies sold milestone, setting a new record for both developer and publisher Capcom.

This marks Capcom's best-ever first-month sales performance—no other title in the company's history has achieved higher sales within the first month. Earlier, Wilds became the fastest-selling game in Capcom's history after moving 8 million copies in just three days.

In a press statement, Capcom detailed the factors behind Monster Hunter Wilds' remarkable success, which has even surpassed that of Monster Hunter World. Key contributors include the introduction of crossplay—a series first—and a simultaneous launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Monster Hunter World, by contrast, arrived on PC about six months after its console release.

"By enabling crossplay and launching simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC—both firsts for the Monster Hunter series—the title allows a broader audience to enjoy the game together," Capcom explained.

"Additionally, the new Focus Mode mechanic and seamless integration between settlements and ecosystems create a more immersive experience. By blending these innovations with classic Monster Hunter elements, the title has generated tremendous excitement, leading to the company’s first-month sales record of over 10 million units."

As revealed last week, Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update 1 is scheduled for April 4. It introduces a fan-favorite monster and the Grand Hub, a new central settlement where players can gather and interact. Title Update 2, which Capcom teased includes Lagiacrus, is slated for summer. The Monster Hunter series had already captured the Western market following 2018's Monster Hunter World, which remains Capcom’s best-selling game of all time with 21.3 million copies sold. However, it appears Wilds is on track to surpass even that impressive figure.
