Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Coming Soon
Netflix is making waves in the MMO gaming scene with the announcement of Spirit Crossing, a cozy life-simulation game developed by Spry Fox, unveiled at GDC 2025. If you've enjoyed Spry Fox's previous titles like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, you'll recognize the signature warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and a design philosophy centered on connection rather than competition.
Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing
In Spirit Crossing, players can explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and work together to cultivate a thriving village. Activities include gathering resources, riding fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying time with friends.
The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and modern art like Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and welcoming atmosphere where players feel at home for years to come.
A unique feature of Spirit Crossing is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees planted by players will take three to six real-world months to mature into harvestable orchards, reflecting Spry Fox's commitment to slow-paced, long-term gameplay as seen in Cozy Grove.
The game places a strong emphasis on forming meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox's design philosophy. David Edery, co-founder of the studio, expressed his vision for Spirit Crossing as a space that fosters friendships among strangers.
