Author : Thomas May 20,2025

Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, enhancing user interaction and navigation. Since the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have eagerly anticipated the functionalities of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received the official word that the Joy-Con can switch to a "mouse mode," enabling players to glide the controllers over surfaces and use the analog sticks to mimic left-click and right-click actions, much like a conventional mouse. What's more, the system supports using two Joy-Con in mouse mode concurrently, either one in each hand or one in standard mode paired with the other in mouse mode.

Further details have now emerged, showcased via the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter. These insights reveal that the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls can be employed to navigate the Home menu on the Switch 2.

Nintendo has detailed the process, stating, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown."

Additionally, Nintendo explained, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. Use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

While the exact number of games that will support these mouse controls remains uncertain, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology functioning with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
