Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one that truly stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws burst onto the scene as a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder, captivating players when the genre was still burgeoning. Now, its sequel is set to make waves with a Q3 release this year!

This "seaquel" transports you back to the adventurous realm of New Elysia, where you'll embark on another thrilling journey across the high seas. Just select your character, choose a class ability, and assemble your starting deck to set sail on your voyage!

In Pirates Outlaws 2, you have the freedom to choose from multiple characters, each with seven distinct class options. This allows you to customize your deck and even recruit an animal companion, adding layers of strategic depth to your battles. The game introduces enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, arming you with an arsenal of options to conquer the seas!

Run out the gunsPirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to navigate freely across the map and offering countless permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those fortunate enough to play on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first opportunity to get hands-on with Pirates Outlaws 2!

My only reservation stems from the animations showcased in the reveal trailer, which appear somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations is undoubtedly challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
