Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch
The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the frustrations many fans have experienced when trying to secure the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company announced plans for reprints and emphasized their commitment to improving product availability for fans.
The launch of the newest set, Destined Rivals, was marred by numerous issues, including shortages, pre-order complications, and scalping activities. This set joined other highly sought-after releases like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, which have also been challenging to obtain due to overwhelming demand.

In their statement on the official Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that some fans are facing challenges in purchasing certain Pokémon TCG products due to high demand affecting availability. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement explained. They added that reprints should be available at participating retailers soon.
The company also outlined plans to maximize production for upcoming TCG expansions to ensure better product availability at launch and to continue reprinting affected products, including those offered through the Pokémon Center.
Regarding scalping, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the issue by highlighting their efforts to enhance the purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They use a virtual queue system during high-traffic periods to ensure that products reach fans first. "We are committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost," the company stated, adding that they will continue to explore new measures to improve the experience for Pokémon Center customers.
The Pokémon Company expressed gratitude for the community's ongoing support and patience as they strive to meet the demand for Pokémon TCG products. Hopefully, these efforts will lead to a less stressful experience for collectors and players when new sets are released.
