Following the recent acquisition of Pokémon Go developer Niantic by Scopely, the creators behind Monopoly Go, fans have voiced concerns over potential changes, ranging from increased ads to data privacy issues. However, a recent interview with Michael Steranka, a product director for Pokémon Go, published on Polygon aims to alleviate these worries.

In the interview, Steranka praised Scopely's approach, emphasizing that both companies share a similar vision. He confidently stated that intrusive ads are unlikely to be introduced into Pokémon Go under Scopely's ownership. Addressing data privacy concerns head-on, Steranka assured fans that Niantic would not share or sell player data to third parties. He concluded by emphasizing that the transition to Scopely would have minimal impact on Niantic's operations.

Pokémon Go and Scopely acquisitionIf it ain't broke... While some might worry about corporate influence, I personally believe Scopely will not heavily interfere with Pokémon Go's successful operations. The game continues to thrive, and a significant business move for Niantic involves its new AR-focused spin-off team.

Steranka also highlighted the close collaboration with The Pokémon Company in decision-making for Pokémon Go, suggesting that any action they wouldn't approve of is unlikely to happen now or in the future.
