"Rambo Origin Film in Development by Sisu Director"
Rambo fans, get ready for an exciting new chapter! A prequel project titled "John Rambo" is currently in development, helmed by acclaimed director Jalmari Helander, known for his intense action films like "Sisu" and "Big Game." Millennium Media, the powerhouse behind hits like the Expendables and Has Fallen series, as well as previous Rambo films, is set to launch this project at the Cannes market. The Cannes market, a key event running alongside the Cannes Film Festival, is where film projects seeking funding or distribution partners are showcased to potential investors.
While plot details for "John Rambo" are scarce, we know it will be set during the Vietnam War, serving as a prequel to the iconic 1982 film "First Blood." The screenplay, penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, known for their work on "The Mauritanian" and "Black Adam," is ready to roll. Filming is slated to begin in October in Thailand. Although original star Sylvester Stallone is aware of the project, he is not currently involved.
Given Helander's success with "Sisu," a film that reimagined the John Wick formula with an elderly Finnish commando battling Nazis during the Lapland War, fans can expect high-octane action and gripping storytelling. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling addition to the Rambo saga.
