Witcher-Persona hybrid RPG revealed
Rebel Wolves, composed of ex-CD Projekt Red developers, has unveiled an atmospheric cinematic trailer for their debut RPG title The Blood of Dawnwalker. This dark fantasy adventure draws clear inspiration from The Witcher series while incorporating innovative Persona-style time management mechanics.
A Dark Fantasy Epic Emerges
The reveal trailer showcases the game's gothic aesthetic and introduces protagonist Coen, who transforms into a supernatural Dawnwalker at the story's beginning. The footage highlights morally complex decisions that players will face throughout Coen's journey.
Rebel Wolves emphasizes meaningful player choices throughout the branching narrative, with a morality system that impacts character development and story outcomes.
The Legacy Continues
The Blood of Dawnwalker bears unmistakable similarities to The Witcher franchise in its dark fantasy setting, monster hunting elements, and narrative-driven world. However, former CDPR veterans incorporated fresh concepts to differentiate their new project.
The studio describes gameplay as a "narrative sandbox" where players must carefully choose which quests to pursue since time constraints prevent completing all content in one playthrough.
A Fusion of Genres
Bridging western RPG traditions with Japanese design influences, The Blood of Dawnwalker implements Persona-style calendar mechanics where every action consumes limited time.
"Between saving Coen's family and managing his supernatural condition, players will face difficult choices that shape their unique story," explains game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
The Blood of Dawnwalker targets PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X platforms as the first entry in a planned trilogy. While no release date has been confirmed, fans can anticipate a gameplay reveal during summer 2025.
