Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Now Thinner Than Ever
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its new flagship smartphone. Although it shares many similarities with the earlier-released Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 Edge stands out with its remarkably thinner design. This sleek profile gives it a competitive edge in the market.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely matches the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The most notable difference is its chassis, which has been slimmed down to an impressive 5.8mm thickness, compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also results in a lighter weight of just 163g, enhancing its portability and comfort.
Despite the thinner design, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the Samsung Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This choice maintains the high-quality visual experience that users expect from Samsung's top-tier devices.
Given its slender profile and larger size, durability is a critical consideration. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While this upgrade aims to enhance drop resistance, the real test will be its resilience against bending, especially when subjected to pressure in a pocket.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also comes equipped with the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and enhanced in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset supports robust on-device AI processing, bolstering privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. Nonetheless, many AI applications still depend on cloud connectivity. Samsung offers unique features like notification and news article summarization, enhancing user convenience.
Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with pricing starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slim device, and time will tell if it lives up to these claims. The Galaxy S25 Edge promises to be a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance smartphone with a sleek design.
