Sigourney Weaver at Star Wars Celebration 2025.

IGN: Sigourney, thank you for joining us! Your character seemed to be wearing a Rebel pilot uniform during the panel. Can you share more about her?

Sigourney Weaver: Indeed, she's a pilot for the New Republic, actively working to safeguard it against remnants of the Empire in the Outer Rim. She relies on allies like the Mandalorian and his companion.

IGN: Your fondness for Grogu was a key factor in accepting this role. What was it like working with him?

Weaver: Grogu is delightfully mischievous. Despite the presence of multiple puppeteers, my focus was always on him. He felt very real to me.

IGN: You've encountered various aliens throughout your career, from Xenomorphs to Na'vi. How does working with Grogu compare?

Weaver: Grogu is by far the cutest. While Xenomorphs and other creatures are intense, Grogu embodies the Japanese concept of Kawaii—adorable.

Play**IGN:** You mentioned not having watched *The Mandalorian* before joining the project. What was your experience like catching up on the series?

Weaver: I felt fortunate that Jon Favreau didn't pressure me to watch it beforehand. Diving into the series, I appreciated its Western-inspired storytelling and charm. It was a great way to re-enter the Star Wars universe, especially with compelling characters like Din Djarin and Grogu, and antagonists like Werner Herzog.

IGN: In the footage shown, we saw you and Grogu in a scene where he tries to use the Force to steal your snacks. What was that like?

Weaver: Yes, he was after my little bowl of snacks. I had to be quite firm to get them back!

IGN: Do you get to witness Grogu's Force powers in action in the movie?

Weaver: Absolutely, especially when he's at ease at our base. You can see his growth from a learner to a skilled apprentice, which was a significant development from the series.

IGN: Reflecting on your journey with Star Wars, from the original film to now, do you have a favorite movie in the series?

Weaver: Rogue One stands out for me, particularly Felicity Jones's character. It resonates with my generation's connection to the Rebellion. Revisiting the series is like revisiting childhood, and it's remarkable how Star Wars continues to evolve and welcome everyone back.

IGN: Final question: Who's more powerful, Grogu or a Xenomorph?

Weaver: I'd have to say the Xenomorph. Its nature is to dominate and destroy, whereas Grogu, like Yoda, is wise and on the side of good.

IGN: And Grogu's cuteness certainly doesn't make him threatening, right?

Weaver: True, but if he had stayed with Werner Herzog, who knows what could have happened?
