Squad Busters 2.0 Hits Android Just Before First Anniversary!
Squad Busters is celebrating its first birthday, and Supercell is pulling out all the stops with its highly anticipated Update 2.0, launching on May 13th. This marks the game’s most significant transformation since its 2024 debut. While the initial release struggled to attract the player base the developers envisioned, the question remains: will Update 2.0 turn things around?
A Complete Overhaul, Not Just Minor Tweaks
Squad Busters 2.0 is essentially a reboot, as the name implies. From battle mechanics to victory conditions, the game is undergoing a dramatic shift.
The most notable change involves heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their team, drawing from familiar characters. Losing your Hero means losing the match, adding an intense layer of strategy and risk.
Combat mechanics are also being revamped. Movement and fighting are now seamlessly integrated, making battles faster-paced, more aggressive, and chaotic. This change aims to inject more excitement into each encounter.
Victory conditions are evolving as well. Instead of requiring total elimination of the enemy team, players only need to defeat the opposing Hero. While this tweak mirrors elements of Brawl Stars, some fans are skeptical about whether it will resonate with the community.
Bid Farewell to Classic Features
Several beloved features are being retired in this update. Modes such as Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are being removed. Additionally, older skins and progression systems are being phased out, though Supercell promises to compensate players with Hero Points and other rewards.

Supercell’s rapid changes reflect the game’s struggle to achieve the same level of success as Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars. With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, this update is a strategic move to reinvigorate player interest. Daily piñata events will soon kick off, offering opportunities to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
