NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage for the T-1000, a thrilling new DLC guest character for Mortal Kombat 1, alongside the announcement of Madam Bo as an upcoming DLC Kameo fighter. The T-1000's gameplay brings back iconic moments from Terminator 2, showcasing the character's signature blade and hook arms. Fans will notice similarities to the moves of Baraka and Kabal, while the T-1000's ability to morph into a liquid metal blob and execute an uppercut akin to Killer Instinct's Glacius adds a unique flair.

The T-1000 is voiced and modeled after actor Robert Patrick, who originally portrayed the character in the 1991 film. The teaser features Patrick's voice during a confrontation with Johnny Cage, culminating in a Fatality that recreates the intense truck chase scene from Terminator 2. In this dramatic Fatality, the T-1000 emerges from the driver's seat in liquid form to unleash a barrage of bullets on Cage.

PlaySimultaneously, NetherRealm surprised fans by revealing Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter. A beloved character from the *Mortal Kombat 1* storyline, Madam Bo is known for her fierce defense of her restaurant against Smoke and his gang. In the teaser, she is seen assisting the T-1000 during a battle with Johnny Cage.

The T-1000 will be available in Mortal Kombat 1 starting March 18, with early access for Khaos Reigns owners, and a general release on March 25. Madam Bo will also be available on March 18 as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a standalone purchase.

This marks the T-1000 as the last DLC character to be added to Mortal Kombat 1 under the Khaos Reigns expansion, joining other fighters like Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues among fans about the possibility of a third DLC pack, known as Kombat Pack 3, amidst discussions on the game's sales performance.

Despite these uncertainties, Warner Bros. Discovery remains committed to the Mortal Kombat franchise. In November, CEO David Zaslav announced plans to focus on just four key titles, with Mortal Kombat being one of them.

Madam Bo is set to enhance the Mortal Kombat 1 roster as a Kameo fighter. In September, Mortal Kombat development chief Ed Boon confirmed the studio's long-term support for the game, while also hinting at their next project, which many fans believe could be a new installment in the Injustice series. The Injustice franchise, which began with Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013 and continued with Injustice 2 in 2017, has been on hiatus since Mortal Kombat 11 was released in 2019. Instead of alternating between the two franchises as previously expected, NetherRealm opted for another Mortal Kombat title with the 2023 release of Mortal Kombat 1.

In a June 2023 interview with IGN, Boon shed some light on the decision to focus on Mortal Kombat 1. He cited the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to a newer version of the Unreal game engine as significant factors. "We really wanted to be careful with COVID and all that stuff and everybody staying safe," Boon explained. "So there were a bunch of variables involved that eventually we realized, 'Okay, let's do another Mortal Kombat game and hopefully we'll get back to the Injustice games.'"

When asked directly about the future of the Injustice franchise, Boon reassured fans, saying, "Not at all," indicating that the door is still open for future Injustice titles.
