Test Track Reopening Date Announced and New Details Revealed for the Updated Attraction at Walt Disney World's EPCOT

Alongside exciting new updates, Disney has officially announced that EPCOT’s Test Track, presented by General Motors, will reopen at Walt Disney World Resort on July 22, 2025.

As revealed on the Disney Parks Blog, the reimagined attraction features a completely refreshed experience, including an original musical score and immersive new scenes that spotlight cutting-edge automotive technology—showcasing how modern vehicles are becoming smarter and enhancing everyday life.

One standout addition demonstrates how cars use advanced cameras and sensors to "see" their surroundings, offering guests a glimpse into the world of autonomous driving. This scene highlights real-world innovations like LiDAR technology, which plays a crucial role in ensuring safety and precision in self-driving vehicles.

In a shift from its previous concept-based design, this new version of Test Track is grounded in reality. To create an authentic driving experience, part of the ride will simulate a scenic journey through the Pacific Northwest.

“We’re celebrating the joy of driving and the magic of taking a scenic road trip with friends and family,” said Nathaniel Gearhart, Walt Disney Imagineering. “These are the kinds of moments that become lasting memories.”

To enhance the realism, Imagineers carefully selected four key tree species—Cedar, Spruce, Maple, and Oak—to represent the region’s lush landscape. Combined with dense overhead foliage, the environment mimics a natural forest canopy, fully immersing guests in the setting.

Originally opening in 1999, Test Track received its first major overhaul in 2012 (2.0), and now, with the upcoming 2025 relaunch, enters its third evolution—Test Track 3.0. The attraction closed on June 17, 2024, to undergo these extensive enhancements.
