Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Plans Confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery
Expected in a "Couple Years Down the Road"
Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced their plans to develop a sequel to the acclaimed action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. This Harry Potter-inspired game, which has sold over 24 million copies since its launch, continues to captivate fans worldwide. During the Bank of America's 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels shared the company's forward-looking strategy, stating, "Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road. So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."
David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Games, highlighted the game's enduring appeal in an earlier interview with Variety. "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once," he noted, emphasizing the game's replayability. Haddad also praised the game for bringing the magical world of Harry Potter to life in a unique way, allowing players to immerse themselves fully in the story and the environment. "It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story," he said. This immersive experience has resonated deeply with the gaming community, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts in 2023, a position typically dominated by sequels of established franchises.
Game8 was particularly impressed with the visual excellence of Hogwarts Legacy, describing it as the most visually stunning experience a Harry Potter fan could hope for. For a deeper dive into our thoughts on the game, check out our comprehensive review at the link below!
