Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay and Star

Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release. The PlayStation State of Play showcase revealed not only exciting gameplay footage but also the identity of the game's protagonist: the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

The trailer showcased impressive sword combat and formidable foes, hinting at the thrilling action experience to come. Musashi's portrayal blends his historical prowess with a charismatic and humorous personality.

Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the iconic Toshiro Mifune, renowned for his samurai roles.

The game's setting is a Kyoto overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from the underworld. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To bridge the gap and build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
