The first story arc is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, scheduled for release August 5. The series' second arc, beginning with issue #7, offers a fresh spin on Mr. Freeze, and issue #9 is out now. This issue ushers in a new interpretation of the classic Batman foe, Bane. While he retains his hulking luchador physique and Venom enhancements, his motivations are entirely new and feature an intriguing link to Alfred Pennyworth.

IGN recently spoke with Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta. When discussing the formidable Bane, they highlighted his immense size and sharp intellect. Snyder remarked, "The one thing I'll say about Bane is he's genuinely huge. We wanted a presence that makes Bruce's own silhouette seem smaller by comparison." Absolute Batman #9 also debuts this universe's versions of a young Dick Grayson—not yet Robin or Nightwing—and the deadly Deathstroke.
