Amazon Boss Jeff Bezos Asks Who Fans Would Pick as the Next James Bond, and the Answer Is Loud and Clear

Amazon's acquisition of James Bond creative control has ignited a fervent debate: who will be the next 007? Jeff Bezos' X/Twitter poll revealed a clear frontrunner amidst suggestions of Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson: Henry Cavill.

The overwhelming fan support for Cavill is undeniable, particularly given his existing relationship with Amazon through their Warhammer 40,000 project. This raises the intriguing possibility of a Cavill-Bond pairing. His past audition for Casino Royale (available online) received high praise from director Martin Campbell, who described Cavill's audition as "tremendous," but noted that his youth at the time (23) led to Daniel Craig's selection.

Campbell later clarified to The Express that Cavill's performance was excellent, his physical condition superb, and that he would have been an excellent Bond had Craig not been cast. Cavill himself acknowledged in an interview with Josh Horowitz that he likely wasn't ready then and praised Craig's performance. He stated, "They obviously went with Daniel and I think it was an amazing choice to go with Daniel. I probably wasn’t ready at the time and I think Daniel did an incredible job over the past movies, so I’m happy they made that choice.”

The search for Bond's successor following Daniel Craig's departure in No Time to Die is well-documented. Campbell's comments suggest a typical three-film commitment for Bond actors, a factor that might have influenced past casting decisions and could now favor Cavill, who at 40, would be appropriately aged for a three-film run. Campbell concluded, “Henry’s 40, so by the time he’s done the third one he’s going to be 50. Anything beyond that’s two, three years per Bond. He’s in good shape Henry, he’s a good guy. He did very well in the audition, but ironically, he was too young.”
