AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT Confirmed: New Details Revealed
AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, marking a new addition to their lineup following the successful launch of the RX 9070 XT in March. Although details are sparse, this mid-range graphics card promises to be an exciting option for gamers.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT is equipped with 32 Compute Units and boasts 16GB of GDDR6 memory, a robust specification for a card aimed at 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's no surprise that it consumes less power than its predecessor, the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and roughly half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be less powerful but potentially more affordable. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose pricing or a release date for this new GPU.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
The lack of pricing details from AMD is frustrating, but it's likely the Radeon RX 9060 XT will be priced competitively with the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These competing cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and both debuted at around $250-$300. AMD is poised to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT eventually hits the market, gamers seeking a graphics card in the $300 range will have three viable options from different manufacturers. Should the RX 9060 XT fall within this price bracket, its 16GB of VRAM will give it a distinct advantage over the 8GB from Nvidia's RTX 5060 and the 12GB from Intel's Arc B580.
While I'm eager to test its performance in the lab, if the RX 9060 XT holds its own against the competition, its larger frame buffer could extend its relevance as games continue to demand more video memory. The final price of the RX 9060 XT remains to be seen, but it's shaping up to be the budget GPU to watch in the coming months.
