New Dark Heresy RPG from Rogue Trader Studio
Owlcat Games has unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, their next cRPG following the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.
Announced during Warhammer Skulls 2025, Dark Heresy casts players as an Inquisitor, one of the Imperium's relentless heresy hunters. Here's the official description:
Experience the shadows of the Inquisition in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, another narrative-driven tactical RPG set in the brutal grimdark universe. Against the cosmic darkness of Noctis Aeterna and the enigma of the Tyrant Star, command a diverse warband ranging from loyal Imperial soldiers like a battle-hardened Catachan Guardsman to untrustworthy xenos operatives including a cunning Kroot mercenary.Featuring complex investigations, strategic turn-based combat, and decisions with permanent consequences, Dark Heresy promises an immersive journey into the ruthless world of the Imperium's most feared organization. Building upon Rogue Trader's foundations, the game introduces fully voiced dialogue throughout.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy launches on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though no release window was specified.
Owlcat also revealed upcoming Rogue Trader content, including the second major story expansion Lex Imperialis and Season Pass 2, which brings two additional DLCs and cosmetic upgrades.
Lex Imperialis plunges players into the unyielding justice of Imperial Law. This 15-hour expansion introduces the uncompromising Adeptus Arbites and new companion Solomorne Anthar, complete with cyber-enhanced battle companions. Releasing June 24, 2025, it expands both gameplay and narrative depth.
Season Pass 2 for Rogue Trader includes two substantial expansions. One adventure takes players into a Necron vault overseen by the infamous Trazyn the Infinite, while another explores the haunted Processional of the Damned - a ghostly graveyard of derelict voidships. Each DLC delivers approximately 15 hours of gameplay with new companions, quests integrated into the main story, and fresh mechanics.
