A demo of the fan-made sequel Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude has been released

With no official Half-Life 2 Episode 3 in sight, fans are stepping up to create their own continuations. A recent example is Pega_Xing's Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude demo.

This fan-made sequel throws Gordon Freeman into an Arctic survival scenario following a helicopter crash, with the Alliance hot on his trail.

The current demo is already available, but updates are planned. These will not only advance the narrative but also refine the original, improving puzzles, flashlight mechanics, and level design.

The Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude demo is free to download via ModDB. Adding to the buzz, Mike Shapiro, the voice actor for the G-Man, recently tweeted a cryptic teaser (#HalfLife, #Valve, #GMan, #2025) hinting at "unexpected surprises," his first post since 2020.

While a full Valve-developed game in 2025 might be ambitious, a formal announcement seems entirely plausible. Dataminer Gabe Follower reported internal playtesting of a new Half-Life game is underway, with reportedly positive feedback from Valve developers.

Current indications strongly suggest active development of a new Half-Life title, continuing Gordon Freeman's saga. The best part? An official announcement could drop at any moment. After all, the unpredictable nature of "Valve Time" is half the fun.
