Dune: Awakening Global Launch Dates Announced

Funcom has revealed the worldwide launch schedule for Dune: Awakening.

Inspired by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment's cinematic hits, Dune: Awakening transports players to Arrakis as a survival MMO. For the first time in gaming history, fans can freely explore this deadly desert planet through immersive open-world gameplay.

Master Fremen survival techniques while enhancing abilities through combat, spice harvesting, base construction, and trade. Originally slated for late May 2025, the developers postponed launch by three weeks to address beta feedback. Special early access begins June 5 for Head Start players, while standard access commences June 10 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Our hands-on beta experience exceeded expectations, noting in IGN's Dune: Awakening preview: "As longtime Dune enthusiasts, exploring this meticulously crafted alternate reality delivers unprecedented immersion. Funcom balances faithfulness to source material with inventive storytelling liberties."

During last week's showcase stream, Funcom unveiled never-before-seen mid/late-game content spanning the expansive Hagga Basin region. Beta participants previously accessed only 25% of this diverse territory featuring lush O'odham valleys, treacherous Hagga Rift canyons, and Jabal Eifrit's towering rock formations.

"Beyond basic survival," developers teased, "players will navigate faction politics between House Atreides and Harkonnen; construct defensive strongholds; plunder Imperial facilities; pioneer advanced crafting; and traverse landscapes via specialized vehicles." The innovative Landsraad system ensures both PvE and PvP enthusiasts can influence faction dominance.
