Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update
Star Wars Celebration has unveiled exciting new details about the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, set to launch on May 22, 2026. This immersive expansion will align with the release of the new film and introduce a fresh, interactive storyline that, while following a different path from the movie, will still feature Din Djarin and Grogu in thrilling new ways.
In this updated experience, guests will embark on a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure inspired by a high-stakes bounty hunt. The story kicks off when Hondo Ohnaka catches wind of a secret deal between ex-Imperial officers and pirates on Tatooine. Players will team up with Mando and Grogu to track down the suspects across multiple iconic planets, including Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and, for the first time in the attraction, Coruscant.
One of the standout additions is the expanded role for the Engineer position. This time around, Engineers won’t just manage systems—they’ll be directly responsible for looking after Grogu during the mission. As Walt Disney Imagineering’s Asa Kalama revealed, “We're giving engineers the opportunity to actually communicate with Grogu.”
He added, “There may be moments when Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little too happy on the control panel. We love the idea of creating fun little vignettes where you’re on the comm with Grogu—interacting with him in real time.”
The adventure will also feature a choose-your-own-adventure mechanic, introducing branching paths based on real-time decisions. Kalama explained, “There will be a critical moment in your mission where time is running short, and you’ll have to make a split-second choice about which bounty to pursue. That decision will determine which destinations you visit and shape the course of your journey.”
