Final Fantasy XIV Ends Full Windows 10 Support

Square Enix has announced it will discontinue Windows 10 support for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV this October.

The publisher confirmed in a statement that support will officially end on October 14, 2025, aligning with Microsoft’s own cutoff for security updates and technical assistance.

"FINAL FANTASY XIV will likely remain playable on Windows® 10 even after support concludes," the company noted. "However, once support ends, we generally won’t be able to assist with issues caused by the operating system."

Square Enix indicated it might address some Windows 10-related technical inquiries after the deadline, but such support will be limited, handled case by case, and not guaranteed.

Additionally, the OS and CPU requirements for the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV will also be updated on October 14. Along with switching from Windows 10 64-bit to Windows 11 64-bit, the processor requirements are increasing as well.

For minimum system requirements, the recommended Intel Core i7-7700 (or better) will change to an Intel Core i5-8400 (or higher). The recommended system requirements, however, will remain at the Intel Core i7-9700 baseline.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently preparing for its 7.3 update, The Promise of Tomorrow, scheduled for early August. Following the Dawntrail expansion, patch 7.3 will introduce a fresh set of Main Scenario Quests that explore the aftermath of the expansion and the mysterious events unfolding in Solution Nine.

In addition, the next chapter of Final Fantasy XIV's Final Fantasy XI collaborative raid series, Echoes of Vana'diel, will debut with San d'Oria: The Second Walk. Longtime Final Fantasy XI fans—many of whom may still be playing today—should discover plenty of clever easter eggs and nods sprinkled throughout the new battles.

For Windows 10 users, the transition away from the operating system appears unavoidable. If you’re still using Windows 10, now might be a good time to start weighing your options as its support deadline approaches.
