FFXIV Mobile Hits China This Summer
Final Fantasy XIV might arrive as early as mid-summer
August 29th appears on a recent Chinese iOS store listing
The mobile adaptation of this beloved MMORPG has been in development for quite some time, generating significant anticipation
Final Fantasy XIV Mobile represents the mobile adaptation of the acclaimed MMORPG that famously transformed from a troubled launch into Square Enix's most successful online title. The excitement around its mobile version is understandable. A recent discovery on China's iOS App Store now suggests we could see the game launch as soon as August 29th.
The original 2010 release of Final Fantasy XIV met with overwhelmingly negative reception. The response was so poor that Square Enix withdrew the MMORPG entirely, tasking the development team with a complete overhaul. The result was the celebrated Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The game has maintained strong popularity through consistent expansions and updates. This makes the mobile version particularly exciting for fans, including our own Shaun Walton who previously detailed everything known about the upcoming mobile port.

The key question remains just how feature-complete this mobile adaptation will be. While a late August launch seems quite plausible, it's worth noting that Tencent's Lightspeed studio is handling the port - meaning Chinese players might get early access.
A global release would likely follow shortly after. According to an interview with veteran producer Naoki Yoshida, the mobile version has long been in consideration. Regardless, all signs point to a carefully crafted port given the level of detail revealed so far.
