Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Heaven?

Author : Victoria May 23,2025

At Droid Gamers, we receive a diverse array of gadgets, but the Formovie Episode One projector caught our attention as a novel addition. With the capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, this projector seemed like an ideal device for us to explore.

Designed to cater to those on a tighter budget, the Episode One successfully delivers on its promise of affordability while still offering a commendable performance. Despite a few minor drawbacks, this projector stands out as a great value option.

Upon unboxing, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (note that batteries are not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it may not have the substantial weight of pricier models, its lighter build enhances its portability. Weighing in at just three pounds, the Episode One is easy to take with you on the go.

Some users might find the port selection limited, with only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. However, this is quite reasonable considering the unit's cost and should meet the needs of most users.

In terms of performance, the Episode One performs admirably for its price point. With 150 ISO lumens, it's not the brightest or most powerful laser-based projector on the market. It struggled in direct sunlight during our tests but excelled in darker environments, as expected.

For optimal image quality, we found that the projector needed to be placed at least 10 feet away from the screen. The sound output, while acceptable, was somewhat tinny due to the built-in speaker. For a better audio experience, we recommend connecting an external speaker to the Episode One.

The user interface is one of the strongest aspects of this projector. Its simplicity and user-friendliness make it easier to navigate than some of the more expensive models we've encountered.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single aspect, but it provides a reliable and versatile solution that will satisfy the needs of most casual users.
