Jason Momoa's portrayal of Lobo in the upcoming DC Universe film "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" is highly anticipated, set to release in June 2026. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength and immortality, originates from the planet Czarnia. He is the last survivor of his world, much like Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in "Omega Men #3" in 1983.

Momoa, previously known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is excited to join the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) as Lobo. He has expressed that Lobo is his favorite comic book character, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character. In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa hinted at Lobo's appearance in the film, suggesting fans will get a good, albeit brief, look at the character.

"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa shared. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

When asked about Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, though it didn't reveal much. Gunn announced on Bluesky that filming had begun for "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, known as Supergirl.

The movie, heavily based on the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows a standalone story of an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, seeking revenge for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. The villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, is played by Matthias Schoenaerts, while Eve Ridley plays Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Supergirl's father, and Emily Beecham as her mother.

"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" marks the second movie in the new DCU, following James Gunn's "Superman" set to release this summer. The DCU's "Clayface" movie is slated for September 2026.
