The Lenovo Legion Go is a Windows-based gaming handheld powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU with Radeon graphics and 16GB RAM—the same configuration found in the $700 Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme or ROG Ally X. It also offers a larger, sharper 8.8" 2560x1600 144Hz IPS touchscreen and detachable controllers similar to the Nintendo Switch. Running on Windows 11, the Legion Go is fully compatible with popular PC gaming platforms, including Steam, Origin, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Genshin Impact, and Battle.net.

In Jacqueline Thomas' Lenovo Legion Go review, she noted that "it easily ranks as the best handheld gaming PC currently available based on screen size, performance, and USB-C port placement—with a few caveats. The device is undeniably large, and its 1600p display often exceeds what the powerful chip can handle comfortably. This means you'll need to spend time adjusting and reducing quality settings to optimize game performance. Even then, battery life is limited, and you're paying a premium compared to the Steam Deck OLED for the larger screen, a full Windows 11 license, and added power. But if you love the Nintendo Switch concept—removable controllers, a sturdy kickstand, and flexible play styles—this is the ideal device for you."

Since the article's original publication, the Asus ROG Ally X has launched, competing directly with the Legion Go for the "best gaming handheld" crown. However, the Ally X is significantly more expensive, currently priced at $899.99 at Best Buy—that's $400 more than the Legion Go. For the money, the Legion Go clearly offers better value.

If you decide to take advantage of this offer, we recommend pairing it with a portable power bank for longer gaming sessions on the go and a Micro SD card for additional storage. While we've previously compared the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, that article offers useful insight into the main differences between SteamOS and Windows gaming handhelds.
