Marvel Snap is back online, but Second Dinner aren\'t happy and is seeking a new publisher

Marvel Snap is back online in the United States after a tumultuous few days offline. The game's developer, Second Dinner, however, is reportedly seeking a new publisher following the unexpected removal of the game by its current publisher, Nuverse (a ByteDance subsidiary), in the wake of the TikTok ban.

The abrupt shutdown, complete with a “banned” warning message, apparently caught Second Dinner off guard. While the developer works to resolve player complaints stemming from lost login rewards and disrupted gameplay, the search for a new publishing partner represents a significant blow to Nuverse, especially considering the positive reception of Marvel Snap since its 2022 launch.

Second Dinner's frustration is understandable, given the outpouring of player anger on social media. The decision by ByteDance to pull both TikTok and several gaming titles without prior warning to developers was, as predicted in a previous article, counterproductive.

Finding a new publisher could take months, even years. The immediate priority is preventing a recurrence of this incident. In the meantime, players eager to return to the game might find our guides helpful, particularly our tiered ranking of all Marvel Snap cards.
