Rory McCann Debuts as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka at Star Wars Celebration
Star Wars Celebration has unveiled the first official look at Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll in Season 2 of Ahsoka. McCann steps into the role following the passing of Ray Stevenson, who originally portrayed the character in Season 1.
Though we haven’t yet seen McCann in action, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration revealed a first-look image, offering fans a glimpse of the actor in costume—viewable below.
Ray Stevenson, known for his powerful performances in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and other acclaimed projects, sadly passed away after a sudden illness just three months before Ahsoka premiered. His portrayal of Baylan Skoll left a lasting impression, with many considering his performance a standout element of the series.
Dave Filoni, creator of Ahsoka, spoke emotionally about Stevenson’s passing, calling it one of the most difficult challenges in developing Season 2. He praised Stevenson not only as a remarkable on-screen presence but also as “the most beautiful person on screen and off.”
During the panel, Filoni and the production team shared new details about what’s ahead in Season 2. This includes the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, alongside beloved characters such as Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and others expanding the show’s galactic narrative.
In our review of Ahsoka Season 1, we noted that while the series stumbles slightly in its early episodes—spending time catching viewers up on lore from Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars universe—it soon finds its footing. Once the characters and epic storylines take center stage, the show delivers a compelling blend of deep lore, humor, and grand-scale battles, capturing the essence of classic Star Wars while boldly exploring new territory.
