Spider-Man 2 PC Launch Hacked in an Hour

Spider-Man 2 was released on both Steam and Epic Games Store without any pre-release piracy protection, making it impossible for the game to be hacked in advance. The explanation is straightforward: the PC version did not offer pre-order or pre-download options, and the full 140-gigabyte distribution file only became available at launch.
Approximately an hour after Spider-Man 2 launched on PC, hackers had already downloaded the full distribution and successfully cracked it. As many predicted, the game lacks sophisticated anti-piracy measures.
Sony kept the marketing for this project relatively low-key, and the official system requirements for Spider-Man 2 were only revealed a day before the PC launch. Currently, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ranks seventh on Sony’s list of biggest Steam releases, trailing not only God of War and Horizon, but also Days Gone.
Early player feedback is not particularly strong. At the time of writing, the game has received 55% positive reviews out of 1,280 user ratings. Gamers are reporting optimization issues, crashes, and various bugs.
Spider-Man Remastered continues to hold the record for the highest online player count in the series on PC, having previously peaked at over 66,000 simultaneous users. Whether the sequel can match or surpass the first game’s popularity will depend on its performance over the coming Friday and weekend. If the current sales trend continues, the game stands a good chance of achieving a solid result.
