Nintendo Direct Reveals Virtual Boy Classics for Switch

Nintendo has stunned fans with the surprise announcement of the Virtual Boy's return.

Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics launches on February 17, 2026, for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers on both Switch 1 and Switch 2. A collection of 14 classic games will be released gradually over time.

Playing requires a dedicated accessory that recreates the original Virtual Boy peripheral, with a cardboard model also offered as an option.

Select games from Nintendo's stereoscopic 3D system, the Virtual Boy, are coming to Nintendo Classics, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. To play, you'll need Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers and the dedicated accessory, modeled after the original Virtual Boy hardware—complete with stereoscopic 3D—when using your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system. Experience titles like Mario's Tennis, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, and more as they become available. Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics arrives for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on February 17, 2026. The required accessory for playing Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics, along with a cardboard version, will be available for pre-purchase on the My Nintendo Store at a later date.
