Zynga Unveils Letter Lock Feature in Words With Friends

If you're a fan of Words With Friends, you’re in for an exciting treat! Zynga has just introduced a fresh new feature called Letter Lock, a solo gameplay mode that players have been eagerly anticipating. Alongside this, the game is also getting a few other updates to spice things up. Let’s dive into what’s new.

What Is Letter Lock in Words With Friends?

Letter Lock is a daily single-player puzzle experience designed to test your word-building skills in a unique way. Unlike traditional typing-based word games or even Wordle, this mode lets you interact by sliding vertical letter columns up and down to create valid words on the main entry line.

Once you successfully form a real word, additional columns unlock, giving you the chance to build even longer words. The challenge continues until you reach the puzzle's target word length. However, every incorrect guess will cost you one of your hearts. Lose too many, and it’s game over for that round.

While not identical to Wordle, Letter Lock delivers a similarly engaging, bite-sized daily challenge—perfect for quick mental stimulation. Check out the official trailer below to see how it works:

Keeping the Game Fresh with New Content

Yaron Leyvand, Executive Vice President of Mobile Games at Zynga, emphasized that features like Letter Lock are part of Zynga’s ongoing effort to evolve Words With Friends based on long-time player feedback. Introducing innovative ways to play helps keep the game dynamic and engaging for both old and new fans.

In addition to Letter Lock, Zynga is launching its Spring into Words event. This update brings a variety of fresh content including new daily puzzles, special challenges, and themed rewards. You can enjoy solo modes like Guess Word and Crosswords, along with seasonal Tile Styles and exclusive in-game events.
