"Back to the Future Screenwriter: No Prequels, Spinoffs, or Sequels Ever"

The beloved *Back to the Future* franchise will remain untouched, asserts its screenwriter Bob Gale. Amidst swirling rumors of a potential TV series inspired by the success of *Cobra Kai*, Gale firmly quashed any hopes for further installments of the iconic trilogy. "I don't know why they keep talking about that!" he exclaimed to People magazine. "I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?"

Gale left no room for ambiguity, reiterating that fans shouldn't expect a *Back to the Future 4*, a prequel, or any spinoffs. "Never," he stated emphatically. "It's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'" Despite Gale's strong stance, the power of Hollywood could theoretically override his wishes if it chose to greenlight a revival. However, such a move would require the blessing of executive producer Steven Spielberg, who, according to Gale, is unlikely to approve. "Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more *Back to the Future*. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven," Gale remarked.

This sentiment aligns with Gale's previous statements. In February, he had a blunt message for those hoping for a *Back to the Future 4*: "People always say, 'When are you going to do *Back to the Future 4*?' And we say, 'F**k you.'" The original *Back to the Future* film, released in 1985, stars Michael J. Fox as high school student Marty McFly, who is accidentally sent back in time by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd. The movie became a cultural phenomenon and led to two sequels, cementing its place as one of the most iconic sci-fi films of all time.
