The iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has made a triumphant return to the gaming scene, now available on PC after a 25-year hiatus. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, it saw a PC release in Europe and Japan in 2003. The game follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, as he joins forces with a group of warriors to thwart an emperor's plan to annihilate the world.

Under GOG's Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for today's PCs. This DRM-free release ensures players can enjoy the game without restrictions. The update includes full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11, offering both English and Japanese language options. The game's visuals have been enhanced with an upgraded DirectX renderer, introducing new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and improved gamma correction. Furthermore, the audio has been revamped, restoring missing environmental sounds and providing new audio configuration options.
