- DanChro service concludes September 29th

- Second anniversary content launches July 30th

- Regular events will proceed as scheduled

The action RPG Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Battle Chronicle (DanChro) will cease operations this September, marking two years since its global release. Today's announcement from the development team cited inability to sustain service quality meeting player expectations.

Originally launching in August 2023 with over one million pre-registrations, DanChro rapidly surpassed three million downloads. The game combined flashy 3D combat with character collection mechanics, leveraging the popular DanMachi IP alongside continuous content updates. Despite its promising start, DanChro now joins the increasing number of gacha mobile games forced to shutter operations.

For its final months, DanChro will debut a Second Anniversary event on July 30th featuring exclusive story content written by original series author Fujino Omori. This will mark the game's final content update. Following the July maintenance, all Selas purchases will be disabled, with full service termination across all platforms scheduled for September's end.

DanChro shutdown announcement

With industry titans like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Blue Archive dominating player engagement and revenue, smaller-scale gacha RPGs like DanChro struggle to maintain competitive audiences. Without distinctive innovation or niche appeal, similar mid-tier titles may face comparable challenges.

Players have until September 29th to utilize remaining Selas and participate in final events including the anniversary celebration. Complete scheduling details are available via the official website.
