Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for its mobile release on iOS and Android. Launching in late January 2025, this Tencent-developed title aims to revitalize the classic military shooter franchise. The game features a blend of missions and modes emphasizing tactical gameplay, marking Tencent's significant entry into the modern military shooter market.

While the Delta Force series may be unfamiliar to some, it holds a prominent place in FPS history, predating even Call of Duty. Drawing inspiration from the real-life US military special forces unit, the game series is known for its realistic action, advanced gadgets, and authentic weaponry.

Tencent's Level Infinite has meticulously recreated the Delta Force experience. The game offers a "Warfare" mode reminiscent of large-scale battles seen in Battlefield, and an "Operations" mode focused on extraction-style gameplay. A single-player campaign, inspired by the Battle of Mogadishu and the film "Black Hawk Down," is also planned for 2025.

Addressing Cheating Concerns

Despite the anticipation, Delta Force has faced criticism regarding its approach to combating cheaters. Tencent's aggressive anti-cheat measures, while intended to eliminate cheating, have drawn criticism for being overly restrictive. While the impact on the mobile version might be less significant than on PC, these concerns could still influence player interest.

The mobile release offers a potential solution to cheating concerns, given the reduced likelihood of cheating on mobile platforms compared to PC. Whether it can overcome the controversy and meet expectations remains to be seen.
