Digimon Alysion: A Story Mode in the Pokemon TCG Rival?
At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled exciting updates for the Digimon franchise, including the introduction of a new mobile trading card game, Digimon Alysion, and more details on the upcoming game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
Digimon's New Mobile TCG Digimon Alysion Is In Development
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco announced the development of Digimon Alysion, a new mobile TCG designed to expand the Digimon trading card game experience to mobile platforms. Following the footsteps of successful mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, Digimon Alysion aims to attract a broader audience to the franchise.
Digimon Alysion is set to be a free-to-play digital trading card game, where enthusiasts can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters, build their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players more than just competitive gameplay.
Alongside the announcement, Bandai unveiled a new trailer for Digimon Alysion, providing glimpses of its gameplay and introducing an all-female cast speculated to be featured in its story mode. The new characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a newly introduced Digimon, Gemmon.
While no specific release window has been announced for Digimon Alysion, Bandai mentioned an upcoming closed beta test, with more details to be shared later.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger More Details Revealed
DIGIMON CON 2025 also shed light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. During the livestream, producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's backstory, main characters, and the unique abilities of some featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that players will start with one of three popular Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure anime: Patamon, Gomamon, or DemiDevimon. These three were previously speculated to be the starter Digimon, as they appear in the game's promotional artwork.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger boasts a roster of over 450 Digimon, the largest in the series. Some highlighted in the new trailer include Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon. This surpasses the total of 330 Digimon available in its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory.
Hara also introduced the game's story and main characters. Players can choose between two protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, both secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization dedicated to uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, along with her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their adventure. The game's title hints at its focus on time manipulation, with the protagonist being thrown back and forth through time.
In addition to these announcements, DIGIMON CON 2025 featured the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary PV, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the announcement of a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. The Digimon franchise is poised for significant growth, and fans should stay tuned for more updates throughout the year.
