Let's dive deeper into the exciting developments for Disney Lorcana to ensure you stay up-to-date with all the latest news.
Fabled Will Add Iconic and Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Rotating Cards for Competitive Play
The anticipation for Fabled is building, with the pre-release event set for August 29 and the wide release following on September 5. One of the major highlights of Fabled is the inclusion of A Goofy Movie cards, though specific details about which cards will be available are yet to be disclosed. What we do know is that Mickey and Minnie will grace the game as the inaugural Iconic Cards.
Iconic Cards are set to be the rarest in Lorcana, with only two featured in each upcoming set. These cards, showcasing Mickey and Minnie on a carousel, are sure to become highly sought-after collectibles. Alongside Iconic Cards, Epic Cards will also be introduced. These cards, rarer than Legendary but more accessible than Enchanted and Iconic, will feature unique artwork and foil treatments. A new Elsa (Snow Queen) card is among those anticipated.
Fabled will also mark a pivotal moment for Lorcana's competitive scene, introducing card rotation for the first time. Cards from the first four sets will be ineligible for use in the Core Constructed format, the top-tier competitive play. However, fans of older cards need not worry, as a new format called Infinity Constructed will allow for their continued use. Fabled will also include reprints of popular cards from earlier sets, such as Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), ensuring they remain playable in competitive settings.

"To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter," said Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger. "But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!"
For newcomers to Lorcana, the excitement of these new sets might seem overwhelming, but the team has introduced a Collection Starter Set to help you dive in. This set includes four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) "Glimmer Foil" Promo Card, a card portfolio featuring Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector's guide.
Reign of Jafar Offers Aladdin and Bambi Cards Alongside a New Co-Op Adventure
Reign of Jafar, Lorcana's eighth set, is slated for pre-release on May 30 and wide release on June 6. This set continues the ongoing narrative, focusing on the Disney villain Jafar, who now possesses the Hexwell Crown and has corrupted Archazia’s Island. The storyline teases traps and illusions, with glimmers like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber teaming up to reclaim the crown and defeat the evil vizier.

Cards to look out for include Bambi (Prince of the Forest), Flower (Shy Skunk), Thumper (Young Bunny), Jafar (High Sultan of Lorcana), Magic Carpet (Phantom Rug), Aladdin (Vigilant Guard), and many more.
Teases of the Future Include Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck
The next set after Fabled, titled Whispers in the Well, is scheduled for release in Q4 2025. Though details are sparse, the key art hints at the inclusion of Mickey, Ariel, and possibly Disney Gargoyles, along with a new type of Glimmer. Further into the future, the long-awaited addition of Darkwing Duck to Lorcana was confirmed for 2026, answering the calls of many fans.
Get Ready For the Disney Lorcana World Championship
