Framed for Murder at Girls' Boarding School: Was It You?

Author : Hannah May 25,2025

Why would anyone choose to send their child to a boarding school? Between the peer pressure, loneliness, and inherent snobbery, it's a tough sell. And if that's not enough, imagine your child being accused of pushing someone out of a window! Thankfully, this scenario is fictional, but it's the premise of inkle's latest game, Expelled!

In Expelled!, you step into the shoes of Verity Amersham, a seemingly innocent schoolgirl at Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls in 1922. When a prefect is mysteriously pushed out of a window, Verity finds herself accused of attempted murder. Your mission? Clear your name within the span of a single school day, as characters move and act independently around you, creating a race against time.

You have the freedom to clear your name through various means—whether by finding the real culprit, framing someone else, or resorting to more violent methods like wielding your hockey stick. The choice is yours, and the game encourages you to explore different paths to acquittal.

Expelled! Gameplay ScreenshotAn inkleingIt's incredibly easy to recommend Expelled!, especially given the positive feedback from Catherine Dellosa's review. Inkle, the creators behind my all-time favorite mobile game, 80 Days, and the intriguing murder mystery Overboard!, have once again struck gold with this release.

While Expelled! features a less sinister protagonist than in Overboard!, the game still offers you the chance to play it straight, pin the crime on someone else, or embrace your inner vigilante. And, there's a twist—you might not be as innocent as you initially appear. Dive into Expelled! to uncover the full story.
