Game Informer Revived by Neill Blomkamp's Studio, Entire Team Returns
Game Informer, the iconic gaming publication, is making a triumphant return over six months after its closure by GameStop in August 2024. The entire team is back, thanks to Gunzilla Games, the developer behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid and the blockchain ecosystem GunZ. Gunzilla Games has secured the rights to Game Informer and is committed to reviving the brand in its entirety, including its editorial, production, and more.
In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller announced the exciting news. He emphasized that Gunzilla Games is dedicated to maintaining Game Informer as an independent editorial outlet. The new owners have assured that the editorial team will have full autonomy in deciding what to cover and how to do so, free from any external influence.
Game Informer is now operating under a new entity, Game Informer Inc., bringing back its over 30-year legacy that was abruptly halted last August. The team has been busy during their hiatus, preparing dozens of new game reviews and their Best of 2024 awards to ensure no gap in coverage.
While the print magazine will return at a later date, Miller promises it will be "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer will introduce membership and subscription benefits, expand its video, streaming, and feature coverage, and broaden its range of experts and partnerships to bring diverse perspectives to its audience.
