Marvel Seeks Reunion of The Defenders
The anticipation for the next season of *Daredevil* is building, and with it, speculation about future projects including a possible reunion of the street-level heroes known as The Defenders. In an extensive profile featured in Entertainment Weekly (EW), Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming and television, expressed enthusiasm about the potential for reuniting Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Winderbaum shared his excitement about exploring this avenue, stating, “It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television.” He further noted, “But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”
With *Daredevil: Born Again* set to continue the story that began on Netflix, the transition of these characters to Disney Plus under Marvel's guidance seems increasingly likely. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season marks another successful transfer of a Netflix hero to the Disney platform. As *Daredevil: Born Again* is slated to premiere on March 4, fans will need to wait and see how the series unfolds before drawing conclusions on how Daredevil might connect to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
