The Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an enigmatic locale situated to the north of Reaper's Coast. Encircled by the lethal Deathfog and disconnected from the mainland due to a destroyed bridge, reaching this island seems daunting. However, venturing to Bloodmoon Island is crucial as it deepens the game's main storyline and unlocks various side quests.

Navigating past the Deathfog to reach Bloodmoon Island can be challenging, as the game provides minimal guidance. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access Bloodmoon Island and advance your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Bloodmoon Island was once linked to Reaper's Coast by a bridge, now broken, located northeast of Cloisterwood and near the residences of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching this bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Utilize Spirit Vision to highlight the fragmented sections of the bridge, which can be tricky to navigate due to trapped segments. Here are several methods to cross this spectral bridge:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the game's first act, these gloves allow teleportation without needing the skill. They can be used to move each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills such as Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, making them invaluable for crossing the broken bridge. Not all party members may possess these skills, so consider the next option.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game features four Teleporter Pyramids, which allow warping between them. To use this method, place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once they reach the other side, the rest of the party can warp to their location.
  4. Fast Travel: If a companion with a translocation skill crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there without needing to traverse the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

In addition to the bridge-crossing methods, parties including Fane have a unique option. As an undead, Fane is immune to the Deathfog. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman awaits at a pier, offering passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this ferry ride is fatal for all but Fane. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he will arrive safely and can establish the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel there.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

For parties without Fane who wish to use the ferry, the following strategy using Teleporter Pyramids is necessary:

  1. Separate a companion with a Teleporter Pyramid and let them take the ferry.
  2. Upon arrival, this companion will die on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. The rest of the party, equipped with another pyramid, can warp to the deceased companion.
  4. Use a resurrection spell or scroll to revive the fallen companion.

If Fane isn't in your party, crossing via the bridge is the most efficient method to reach Bloodmoon Island.

Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell, causing instant death. If you choose to confront him, save your game first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
